A seminar covering all intellectual property rights, with a particular focus on patents and petty patents, was held at the Institute of Food Technology in Novi Sad on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The Institute’s employees had an opportunity to learn about the basic aspects of trademarks, industrial designs, copyright and related rights, as well as trade secrets.
Zorica Obradović, Head of the Education and Information Centre, introduced the seminar participants to the fundamentals of the patent system, the national procedure for the protection of inventions by patents and petty patents, international routes for patent protection, as well as the drafting of a patent application.
In the second part of the seminar, patent examiner Jelena Tešić explained the requirements for patent protection of inventions, both in the field of food technology and in relation to computer-implemented inventions, given that researchers from the Institute are also working on solutions involving artificial intelligence.
The participants took an active part in the seminar by asking questions related to intellectual property that are relevant both to participation in national and international projects and to cooperation with other scientific and research institutions and companies.
