This year, prestigious European event for presenting awards for industrial design, the fifth one so far, “Design Europa Awards 2024” was held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in the building of the National Library in Riga, Latvia.
From this year, Design Europa Awards, in the organization of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), shall be held every year. Apart from the existing three categories: Entrepreneurs and Small Companies Award, the Industry Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, new category has been added for young industrial designers up to the age of 30 -New Generation Design Award.
This year winners are the following:
- Per Brickstad, Swedish designer for Transparent Turntable – modern record player which can be adjusted according to the ambience where it is situated with easily replaceable parts.
- Company Linet, from the Czech Republic, for the hospital bed Essenza 300 LT , enabling better position and easier care of people who are difficult to move or immobile.
- Chiara Mignani, young talented Italian designer, for her contribution and innovative approach to the creation of ecological yachts with high performances.
- Dieter Rams, acknowledged German designer, who got Lifetime Achievement Award, whose work in the previous decades integrated functionality in harmony with the protection of environment, and influenced the young generations of designers, culture and aesthetics in the field of industrial design.
