In the premises of the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” in Belgrade, on November 20, 2023, the experts of the IPO held a seminar under the title: “Protection of Inventions by Patent and Search of Patent Documentation”. The researchers of the Institute got acquainted with the following topics: what can be protected by a patent, what conditions should the invention meet and what conditions should the application meet to grant the patent, routes of protection of invention, relationship between the employer and the employee, data bases of patent documents.
Issues were discussed in particular with regard to the manner of representation of a project at public advertisements, for the allotment of funds, and the problem of disclosure to the public before the filing of patent application, inventive level of the invention referring to the adaptation of the existing solution, obligations of the researcher to the patent holder whose subject matter of protection is used in the mentioned research and numerous other subjects.
In the framework of the seminar, a workshop was held about the basis of using the data base Espacenet, with the practical examples and exercises.
