The Intellectual Property Office is a special organization in the system of state administration of the Republic of Serbia, which is responsible for the tasks related to industrial property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, indications of geographical origin, and topographies of semiconductor products), copyright and related rights.
The scope of work of the Intellectual Property Office is prescribed by Article 36, paragraph 1 of the Law on Ministries (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia”, No. 128/20 and No. 116/22). Based on Art. 36 of this Law, the Intellectual Property Office performs professional and state administration tasks related to: patents and petty patents, trademarks, designs, indications of geographical origin, topographies of semiconducting products, copyrights and related rights; applications of international agreements in the field of intellectual property protection and representation of the interests of the Republic of Serbia in specialized international organizations for the protection of intellectual property; supervision over the work of organizations for collective management of copyright and related rights; development in the field of intellectual property protection; information and educational activities in the field of intellectual property protection, as well as other activities determined by law.
The Ministry of Economy supervises the work of the Intellectual Property Office.
