Observatory for patents and technology of the European Patent Office (EPO), on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024, with the beginning at 10 a.m. organizes online event with the title “Patents and innovations in European universities”.
In the framework of this event, the participants shall have the opportunity to explore the key role of universities in the transfer of technology through licensing, research contracts, spin-out companies and joint projects. This role keeps on becoming more important in the innovative fields such as artificial intelligence and quant computers. Understanding the manner in which the academic research gets transferred into valuable intellectual resources, in particular patents, is of key importance for the future of innovations in Europe.
This event, celebrating the first year of work of the Observatory for patents and technology, is intended for universities, researchers, creators of politics and all individuals interested in innovations.
In the course of the event, the new study on academic patents shall be represented, as well as the latest version of the tool “Deep Tech Finder”, enabling survey and mapping of European patent applications filed by universities and their spin-outs.
The participants shall also have the opportunity to participate in the panel discussions and workshops, where they shall exchange experience with experts from universities, leading economists, professionals for transfer of technology and successful founders of spin-out companies.
