A recent operation conducted by the Service for Combating High-Tech Crime of the Technical Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, in coordination with the Special Department for Combating High-Tech Crime of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, represents another example of the continuous and coordinated action of the competent authorities in suppressing intellectual property rights infringements in the digital environment, with a particular focus on the unauthorised distribution of television content via the internet.
Officers of the Service for Combating High-Tech Crime filed criminal complaints to the Special Department for Combating High-Tech Crime of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade against the companies Network manager d.o.o. Pančevo and Speed net d.o.o. Ugrinovci, as well as against their responsible persons V.P. (1971) and V.B. (1981), on suspicion of having committed the criminal offence of unauthorised exploitation of a copyrighted work or subject matter of related rights.
The Ministry of the Interior announced that it will continue its intensive work on detecting and suppressing these forms of high-tech crime, with particular emphasis on the protection of copyright and related rights and the prevention of the illegal distribution of media content in the digital environment.
This event represents a continuation of ongoing activities aimed at strengthening institutional capacities in the field of intellectual property rights protection and the fight against digital piracy.
Namely, a three-day workshop entitled Strengthening Law Enforcement Capacity: OSINT and Forensic Tools and International Cooperation was held in Belgrade from 10 to 12 March 2026, with the support of the European Union project EU Support for the Internal Market – EU4IM. Special attention during the workshop was devoted to the problem of the unauthorised distribution of television content, as well as to improving cooperation between the police, the prosecution and other institutions responsible for the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Capacity-building activities for intellectual property rights enforcement authorities within the framework of the EU4IM project are directed at the institutions represented in the Coordination Body for the Efficient Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the Intellectual Property Office.
