On Friday, January 31, 2025, in the premises of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia a training was held in the field of patents for employees of this government organization giving support to scientific research activities through the realization of science, technological and development programs. One of the results of the funded projects may be the protection of the inventions by a patent, which explains the importance for the collaborators for programs and projects and other employees in the Science Fund to understand as well as possible this intellectual property right, and in particular details related to the length and procedure for the protection of an invention by a patent.
In addition to the procedure of protection of an invention by a patent and petty patent, the employees could hear what might be protected by a patent, what are the conditions for protecting the invention by a patent, what are the procedures of protection on the territories outside the Republic of Serbia, as well as what are the inventions from the employment relationship.
It has also been shown how to access to certain patent documents through electronic registers on the Office website or Espacenet database of patent documentation. Other IPRs have also been mentioned, including trade secrets and copyright and related rights, which may be relevant for the protection of research results generated during R&D projects.
The training was completed by a discussion on various issues, and cooperation between the Fund and the Intellectual Property Office shall be continued in the future.
