In an operation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior, Criminal Police Directorate, in Pirot, Jagodina and Pančevo, several cases of illegal trade in goods were uncovered. A large quantity of clothing, perfumes and other goods bearing the marks of well-known brands was seized, and criminal charges will be filed against four individuals on suspicion of illegal trade and infringement of intellectual property rights.
In Plandište and Svilajnac, the police confiscated products suspected of having been unlawfully placed on the market, while in Pirot a large quantity of textile goods intended for further sale was also discovered without documentation proving origin.
Among the seized products were counterfeit perfumes, which pose a particular risk. Research conducted in Europe has shown that such products may contain methanol, as well as other unsafe chemical substances otherwise used in industrial cleaning agents. Unlike original products, they do not undergo quality control and may cause skin irritation, allergic reactions and other health problems.
The Intellectual Property Office reminds the public that the purchase of counterfeit goods does not only endanger intellectual property rights and the market, but also consumer health.
When you buy an original product, you are not paying only for the brand, but also for safety.
Buy from trusted sources.
