Startups in Serbia found accessible the first guide about intellectual property for startups – “Entrepreneurship Ideas” which brings indispensable streamlines how to use the system of intellectual property protection to preserve competitiveness and to understand differences which may occur as the result of neglecting the IP importance in doing business.
The first publication of this type for startups in Serbia was presented on November 14, 2023 in the Science-Technology Park Belgrade.
The guide is the translation of the publication of the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, adjusted to the systems and procedures of IP Rights protection in Serbia, with the examples of five domestic business companies. It has been elaborated in the framework of the cooperation plan of the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia with the WIPO, in cooperation and with the support of the Science Technology Park Belgrade and the Swiss Federal Intellectual Property Institute through the project “Technopark Serbia 2- Incentive to export through the development of technological parks”.
– For the companies developing technological innovations, it is necessary to include in their business progress the strategy for intellectual property rights protection in order to protect IPRs and thus prevent their unauthorized use. The intellectual property protection concerns the development of business, the protection of competitiveness on the market and it is of great importance for the attraction of investments – it has been emphasized during the presentation of this Guide.
During the event, various WIPO tools have been presented for the inclusion of the issues of intellectual property for the startup business progress, while the two innovation companies in Serbia shared their experiences concerning the intellectual property management in doing business.
