On Wednesday, 19 February 2020, in the premises of the Intellectual Property Office, a meeting lasting throughout the day was held at the high level, including members of the Coordination Body for the efficient protection of the intellectual property rights in the Republic of Serbia and the representatives of the Danish Interagency Network for fighting against infringements of the intellectual property rights, with the participation of foreign experts. The meeting was organized with the support of the Twinning Project of the
European Union under the title “Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights”.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Vladimir Marić, Director of the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia, who spoke about the current situation of the protection of the intellectual property rights in Serbia and the plans regarding the Coordination Body. The meeting was all the more important due to the presence of His Excellency, Mr. Anders Christian Hougaard, Danish Ambassador to Serbia, who spoke about the relationships of Denmark and Serbia in the context of the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union. The Danish Patent and Trademark Office and its role in the interagency cooperation was the topic covered by Mr. John Jensen, Deputy Director General of the Danish Patent and Trademark Office and Ms. Barbara Suhr-Jessen from the Danish Patent and Trademark Office.
The Members of the Coordination Body of the Republic of Serbia had the opportunity to get acquainted with the best European practice regarding the coordination of the intellectual property rights enforcement presented by the representatives of the Danish Customs, Belgian Police and the Romanian Prosecution Office. The participants discussed about the expectations and challenges regarding the coordination between the institutions for the Intellectual property rights enforcement.
