In the course of the General Assembly of the member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the seat of the WIPO in Geneva, a meeting was held between the delegation of the Republic of Serbia and the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Mr. Daren Tang.
The Serbian delegation included the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Geneva, Mr. Dejan Zlatanović, Director of the Intellectual Property Office, Mr. Vladimir Marić, Assistant Director of the Intellectual Property Office, Ms. Aleksandra Mihajlovic and attaché of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia in Geneva, Mr. Andrej Stefanović. In addition to the Director General, the meeting was attended also by Mr. Hasan Kleib, Deputy Director General of the WIPO on behalf of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Mr. Daren Tang greeted warmly the Serbian delegation and expressed pleasure for exceptional and fruitful cooperation that our country has developed with the WIPO. The Ambassador Zlatanović thanked the Director General on his hospitality and underlined the importance that the World Intellectual Property Organization has for our country. The Director of the Intellectual Property Office informed the Director General about the latest facts regarding the protection of intellectual property in our country, as well as about the current projects of cooperation that our country has realized with the WIPO. On that occasion, Director Marić, on behalf of the Republic of Serbia, presented to the Director General Mr. Tang a book “UNESCO in Serbia”, as well as a package of the traditional Serbian products “Original Serbia”, protected by geographical indications. The Director General Mr. Tang expressed great pleasure for the opportunity to be acquainted with the cultural heritage and traditional products of Serbia. Expressing gratitude for the visit and the gift, Director General Mr. Tang also underlined his wish to visit our country someday, when the situation implying the epidemiological pandemics caused by Covid-19 stabilizes. Ambassador Zlatanović said that the open invitation remains for the Director General Mr. Tang.
