On 6 May, the Intellectual Property Office had the honour of hosting participants of the prestigious LEADER project, implemented in Serbia by CANSEE – the Canadian Serbian Business Association, in cooperation with Ivey Business School from Canada. This visit represents an important step in strengthening cooperation between the Serbian and Canadian business communities, as well as in promoting innovation and the protection of intellectual property.
During their first visit, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the key role the Office plays in protecting creativity and innovation in Serbia. The Assistant Director of the IP Office emphasised that intellectual property is a “common language” that guarantees investment security and encourages technological development, while also highlighting the excellent cooperation with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and the willingness to further expand joint activities. In order to familiarise the participants more closely with the services provided by the Office, the Head of the Educational and Information Centre gave a presentation on the key aspects of intellectual property protection in Serbia.
The LEADER project is an international entrepreneurship development programme that has been held in Serbia for eleven years. It is organised by CANSEE in cooperation with Ivey Business School, with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Embassy of Canada. During the ten-day intensive course, young entrepreneurs, startup founders and professionals from various industries gain knowledge of global business practices through interactive MBA workshops led by instructors from Canada. The programme is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge in the fields of leadership, management and innovation, and the results so far show that participants remain active in the domestic economy and go on to launch new products and startups.
