
On 14 July 2026, the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia hosted a high-level delegation of the China Trademark Association, led by the President of the CTA, Mr. Fu Ma.
The delegation also included Ms. Dong Li, Director of the Membership Department; Mr. Haiyan Zhang, Executive Director of the Talent and Education Committee; Ms. Lena Shen, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Development Committee, Executive Director of the CTA Madrid Committee, and Senior Partner at Beijing Dakun Law Firm; as well as Mr. Hao Yu, President of Wuhan Jiecheng Zhiquan Intellectual Property Services Group Co., Ltd.
On behalf of the IPORS, the guests were welcomed and the meeting was attended by Marija Božić, Assistant Director of the Distinctive Signs Sector; Milena Marsenić, Head of the Trademark Department; Jovanka Samardžić, Senior Adviser in the Trademark Department; Tatjana Stevanović, Head of the International Cooperation Group; and Marko Ilijić, Adviser in the International Cooperation Group.
The China Trademark Association was established in 1994 as a national non-profit professional organization bringing together rights holders, trademark agents, attorneys, business entities, and other organizations active in the field of trademark protection. As one of the leading organizations in this field in the People’s Republic of China, the CTA plays a significant role in improving the trademark protection system, organizing professional training and conferences, promoting good practices, and developing international cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with an exchange of experiences regarding work organization, current challenges in the field of trademarks, and opportunities for further enhancing cooperation between the two institutions.
During the working session, Ms. Lena Shen presented the organization and activities of the China Trademark Association, statistical indicators relating to trademark protection in the People’s Republic of China for the period 2019–2025, and the most important innovations introduced through amendments to the Chinese Trademark Law, with particular emphasis on measures aimed at making the registration procedure more efficient and strengthening the protection of trademark holders’ rights.
In the continuation of the meeting, Marija Božić and Milena Marsenić presented, through their respective presentations, the organization, competencies, and activities of the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia, as well as statistical indicators relating to trademark protection in the Republic of Serbia. Special attention was devoted to cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China in the field of trademarks.
It was emphasized that there are currently 7,185 trademark registrations in force in the Republic of Serbia owned by entities from the People’s Republic of China, of which 6,346 are international registrations and 839 are national registrations. On the other hand, 284 international trademarks owned by entities from the Republic of Serbia are registered in the People’s Republic of China.
The exchange of experiences and information confirmed the mutual interest in further strengthening cooperation in the field of trademark protection through the exchange of professional knowledge and expertise, as well as through intensifying contacts between the two institutions. The participants expressed their belief that this visit would provide additional impetus for the development of future cooperation in the field of intellectual property, to the mutual benefit of the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China.
