An analysis of the database of internationally registered geographical indications within the Lisbon System (Lisbon Express) indicates that there are nine types of honey, in total, with geographical indications that are internationally protected under the mentioned system.
Among them is “Homolje Honey” (AO 892), where producers, united in the Homoljemed Beekeeping Cooperative, continuously demonstrate the quality of Homolje Honey due to its geographical origin through product certification.
In addition to this honey, originating from the Republic of Serbia, “Kriva Palanka Honey” (AO 895), from North Macedonia, “Herzegovina Honey”(AO1101) and “Cazin Chestnut Honey” (AO 1101) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, “Honey from the Sabalan Region”, from Iran (AO 1065), then, “Honey from Tenerife” (AO1366) from Spain, “Honey from Corsica” (AO 808), “Honey from Provence” (AO 1414) and “Fir Honey from the Vosges Region” (AO 807) originating from France, are all also internationally protected within the Lisbon System.
