As part of the undergraduate academic programme in Information Technology, fourth-year students of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak had the opportunity to participate in a workshop on searching patent documentation in the Espacenet database.
In addition to using smart and advanced search options, filters, and analysing retrieved patent documents in Espacenet, the students were introduced to the International Patent Classification and the Cooperative Patent Classification (IPC and CPC), as well as patent families.
At the end of the workshop, students independently worked at computers on search exercises under the supervision of patent examiners and members of the Office’s Education and Information Centre, Saša Zdravković and Jelena Tešić. They also expressed interest in learning how to find patent documents related to IT forensics and how to draft a patent application.
