
The regional WIPO Patent Drafting Program for Central European, Baltic and Mediterranean States (CEBS) was held at the Intellectual Property Office from 8 to 12 December 2025. The program was implemented in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with the participation of representatives of national offices and experts from 18 countries in the region.
During the five day intensive training, program participants improved their skills in the field of patent application writing through practical exercises and direct work with international experts. This significantly contributes to building of the professional capacities of the CEBS region countries in the field of intellectual property protection, while at the same time, providing strong support to innovators and researchers to shape their ideas into high quality, legally viable and internationally recognized patents.
The organization of this program at the Intellectual Property Office represents an important step in strengthening professional knowledge and competences, improving regional cooperation, and affirming the active role of our country in global initiatives for the development of the intellectual property system. In this way, Serbia is positioning itself as a reliable partner in building a modern and efficient framework for the protection of innovations at the international level.
The program was opened by Vladimir Marić, Director of the Intellectual Property Office, and Alison Mages, Head of the Intellectual Property Commercialization Sector at the WIPO. Lectures and workshops during the program were given by Diego Vergani, Swiss and European Patent Attorney, Kelly Merkel, US and European Patent Attorney, Victoria Lovatt, European and Singaporean Patent Attorney, Ljubomir Kljajić, Patent and Design Attorney from Serbia, and Nataša Milovanović, Head of the Department of Mechanical, Electrical and General Engineering at the IPO. On the last day of the program, participants received certificates, which were distributed by Aleksandra Mihailović, Asst. Director at the IPO and Emil Hasanov, Senior Adviser in the Department for Central European, Baltic and Mediterranean States at the WIPO.
