On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the invitation of the Galenika Fitofarmacija, the experts of the IPO held the seminar on trademarks and patents for employees of our largest producer of plant protection products.
After the introductory lecture on intellectual property rights, lectures on trademarks and patents followed.
In addition to presenting the basics of trademark protection, the examination procedure and international trademark protection, advice was given on what to pay attention to when choosing a mark and compiling a list of goods and services, while a separate part of the presentation related to training on searching national and international trademark databases, and the criteria for assessing the similarity of a mark with earlier trademarks.
In the part dedicated to patents, seminar participants were able to hear what can be protected by a patent, what are the conditions for patent protection of an invention, the parts and types of patent documents, and what are the procedures for international protection.
Participants had the opportunity to learn more about patent classification, patent families and the importance of searching documentation, and, in particular, how to use the Espacenet database, which was demonstrated. At the end of the lecture, participants had the opportunity to independently try out this database on an example.
