The Conference “Innovations in the Era of Artificial Intelligence – Serbia’s Perspective” was held on May 15, 2025, at the Palace of Science in Belgrade. The conference was organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia and the European Patent Office with the support of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Serbia.
The impact of artificial intelligence on intellectual property rights, especially patents, is undoubtedly a topic that attracts a lot of attention. Artificial intelligence, as one of the main drivers of the fourth industrial revolution, poses an extraordinary challenge for patenting, especially considering the right to invention and ownership of inventions.
The aim of this conference was to present the challenges in patenting inventions in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as successful examples of inventions in this field of technology. Statistical data was also presented on how many patents have been filed in Serbia in this field, what the global trends are and how many companies in Serbia use artificial intelligence in their work.
The panel discussion attracted a lot of attention as various participants approached the challenges they face when it comes to innovations in the field of artificial intelligence from their own perspectives. The panelists also shared with the conference participants their opinions on what awaits us in the coming period when it comes to the development of legislation and practice in the field of artificial intelligence, both nationally and internationally.
