As part of the Metropolitan University project “MET talks”, on January 19, 2026, in the conference Hall of the Metropolitan University in Niš, in the premises of the Metropolitan University in Belgrade, as well as via an online platform, a guest lecture was held for fourth-year students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and the Faculty of Management.
The guest lecturer was Dr. Nataša Milojević, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Advisor at the Education and Information Center of the Intellectual Property Office, while the lecture was moderated by Prof. Petar Pejić, Ph. D, from the Faculty of Information Technologies of Metropolitan University.
In the course on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Digital Business, which is attended by all final year students of the mentioned faculties, students work on the development of their own startup ideas, while the final project involves creating a Pitch Deck, through which they present their business concept. In this context, it was of particular importance to familiarize students with all forms and rights of intellectual property, as a necessary basis for adequate protection of innovations and sustainable development of startup projects.
During the lecture, an important question was raised: how an innovative idea, with adequate and timely protection, can become the key to a startup success.
Students had the opportunity to learn about the importance of intellectual property in modern digital business, as well as the practical aspects of the application in the development of startup projects. The lecture contributed to a better understanding of how the proper protection of ideas and innovations can play a crucial role in the long-term success of entrepreneurial ventures.
