A seminar on the importance and procedures for protecting intellectual property rights in the field of pharmacy was held for students of specialist studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Belgrade in the fields of clinical trials and drug release on Sunday, December 14, 2025. This continued the successful cooperation between this faculty and the Intellectual Property Office, which has lasted for more than a decade.
The lectures of the Institute introduced the seminar participants to the importance of protecting intellectual property rights in the pharmaceutical industry, with a special emphasis on patent protection of inventions. In addition to the conditions for patent protection of inventions, parts of a patent application and specific examples from the field of pharmacy, national and international patent protection were also explained. The second part of the seminar was also dedicated to the novelty searching inside patent documentation in the publicly available Espacenet database of the European Patent Office. Seminar participants had the opportunity to learn more about the search tools offered by this database, as well as to work independently on specially prepared examples of using this database.
As in previous years, the specialists showed great interest in this topic through their active participation posing questions, and through work in the Espacenet database.
