“Zlatarski sir” is a designation of origin for a soft full-fat cheese with at least 50% of milk fat content in dry-matter, produced exclusively in the defined area of Zlatar. Zlatarski sir has a distinct, pleasant fermented taste, not too salty and not too sour.
An Association of producers of “Zlatarski sir” continuously demonstrates the quality of the cheese produced through product certification. The Association renewed its status as an authorised user of “Zlatarski sir” in March 2025. This indicates that only certified producers of this Association have the right to use the “Zlatarski sir” label to mark their products. The certified producers are the subcontractors Milanka Trtović, Miloš Palić, Miloš Špica and Slađana Pušićić from Nova Varoš.
The status of an authorized user of a specific geographical indication can be acquired by any producer who, in a specific geographical area, produces products that are marked with a label that is the name of geographical area and having special properties and quality, defined by the elaboration, verified and guaranteed by the certification body through the issued certificate.
