If entrepreneur or legal person registered for the performance of activities of production of optical discs intends to produce optical discs (CD, DVD, Blue Ray) with the content, then for the performance of this activity it is necessary to get the production code and the license for the production of optical discs and their production parts. The Law on Optical Discs, which entered into force in 2011, established state control over the production and marketing of optical discs and their production parts. Then, starting from 2011, for the issuing of licenses for the production of optical discs and production parts, the Intellectual Property Office is competent.
The procedure for issuing and renewal of license for the production of optical discs is conducted in the administrative procedure regulated by the Law on Optical Discs and the Regulation on the contents and manner of keeping the Register of designated production codes and issued licenses, on the contents of request and proof confirming the fulfillment of conditions for the issuing of license, on the image and contents of license and the contents and manner of keeping of records concerning optical discs (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” no. 13/12 dated 24.02.2012). The license is valid for two years from the date of issuing of the decision and it is possible to prolong it by filing request for the renewal of license at the earliest 60 days, and at the latest 20 days before the expiry of the validity of license.
