INFORMATION DAY FOR COMPANIES – EARLY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Yesterday, in the Hall of the IPO, the Information Day was held for companies that are granted financing in the framework of the Early Development Program of the Innovation Activities Fund. The event was organized by the Innovation Activities Fund and the Intellectual Property Office. The representatives of the mentioned companies were listening to lectures on the project management processes and the relevant IP rights.
WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY

World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated today around the globe, as a festival of all innovators and artists in the world. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) established this festival in 2001 with the aim to raise public awareness on the growing importance of intellectual property in everyday life, as well as to mark the contribution of the inventors and artists to the general development of humanity.

In the Centre “Sava” a Conference was held yesterday under the title “ Origin and Tradition: Products with Geographical Indications of Origin “. The Conference was organized by the Agrobusines Project of the USA Agency for international development (USAID) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Waterworks, the IPO, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs at the Ministry for Economic Affairs of Switzerland, Swiss Institute for Intellectual Property and the Consultant Company SEEDEV.
TRAINING FOR THE REPRESENTATIVES OF MARKET INSPECTORATE

In the Hall of the IPO, training was held for the representatives of Market Inspectorate in the field of IP – the basic level. The training of the representatives of Market Inspectorate finalized the first part of the second cycle of training of the bodies for the enforcement of rights.

At the end of the previous week, the seminars were held for the representatives of the Customs Administration and institutions in the field of health protection. On Thursday, April 5, 2012, the experts of the IPO held a workshop on patents in the Chambers of Commerce of Serbia. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Board for Technological Innovations of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and the Association of Inventors of Serbia.

INNOVATION COACH WORKSHOP IN THE TOWN OF NIS

At the Faculty of Electronics in the town of Nis, on April 2-3, 2012, the last in the serial of eight workshops was held for the improvement of the innovative potential of the employees in the institutions engaged in innovations, which have been held in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Nis. At the four workshops, the lecturers from the Education and Information Center held lectures on the topics: universities and IP, patent system and the use of patent documentation as the source of knowledge.

Yesterday, in the official hall of the Senate House of the Belgrade University a seminar was held under the title “Sources of Information in Biotechnology”. Lecturers from the European Institute for Bioinformatics and the European Patent Office, in the framework of the SLING Project (Serving Life-Science Information for the Next Generation) of the European Commission, presented the data bases on proteins, nuclear acids, chemical entities with biological activities and enzymes which can be freely used on the Internet.

In the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Uzice, on February 28, 2012, a public presentation was held of the Report on the Typical Products of the District of Zlatibor, realized in the framework of the Project “Development of the Typical Products in the North-East Bosnia and the District of Zlatibor in Serbia”, realized by the Regional Development Agency Zlatibor in partnership with the association Independent Bureau for the Development from Modrica. In the teachers room in the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, in the framework of the serial of workshops kept by the experts of the ICIP Project in cooperation with the National Agency for Regional Development, IPO and the technical faculties from Kragujevac, Novi Sad and Nis, from February 28-29, 2012, a two day workshop was held under a title “ Technology Transfer and Technology Brokery”. During the first day of the Workshop, the participants listened to the lecture of the expert of the Education and Information Center “Universities and IP”.

LECTURE ON THE COPYRIGHT IN KOVACICA

In the Gallery Babka in the village of Kovacica, famous for its art colony, an exhibition of the naïve painting of Slovaks in Serbia was held yesterday as part of the intangible heritage in Serbia in the framework of the commemoration of the February 21 – The World Day of the Mother Tongue. The representative of IPO, on that occasion, held a lecture on the protection of copyright in the works of fine arts.

JPO AND THE EPO AGREE ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF MACHINE TRANSLATION

In a landmark step towards increased use of worldwide patent information on the internet, the Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), Yoshiyuki Iwai, and the President of the European Patent Office (EPO), Benoît Battistelli, have signed an agreement which will provide users of the patent system with better machine translations of patents from Japanese into English and then into German and French.
