The Seminar “Managing and Evaluation of IP Rights” was held yesterday in Nis at the Faculty of Economy before around thirty professors, students and representatives of the business companies. The lectures were held by the experts of the Education and Information Centre.
During the first part of the Seminar, the characteristics of IP rights were presented with the picturesque examples of the protection of specific rights, and after that followed the presentation of the usual techniques of measuring the values of IP assets. Taking into consideration that in the field of the patent assessment, the accounting approach is most frequently applied, based on the income, the example of calculating the value of patent according to this approach was demonstrated. The first part of the seminar was finished with a lecture on generic strategies for IP management.
The second part of the seminar included the topics of licenses and franchises. The legal framework was given for both kinds of commercialization of IP rights with the emphasis on the specific aspects that the contracts in this field include. The benefits and shortcomings for the licensor and licensee and the giver and taker of franchise in the arrangements of licensing and obtaining franchise have been demonstrated. After the lecture, the lecturers answered the numerous questions and the participants at the seminar expressed their pleasure with the lectures they have heard, so they proposed the continuation of cooperation between the IPO and the Faculty of Economy in Nis in this field also during the next seminar.
