In the premises of the Palace Serbia, on June 15th, 2009, consultations were held for the government officials of the Republic of Serbia concerning the elaboration of the national intellectual property (IP) strategy. The meeting was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia.

After the welcome address of Mr. Milos Nedeljkovic, State Secretary in the Ministry for Science and Technological Development, speeches were delivered by Mr. Michal Svantner, Director of the Division for Certain Countries in Europe and Asia in the World Intellectual Property Organization, and Mrs. Branka Totic, Director of the Intellectual Property Office, and the presentation was given by Mr. Ron Marchant, IP expert and ex Director of the UK Patent Office. This meeting was attended also by the numerous government officials of the Republic of Serbia and the management of the Intellectual Property Office.

During the discussion, the participants of this meeting agreed on the future steps necessary for the elaboration of the national intellectual property strategy, identified the key institutions that ought to cooperate in the elaboration of the strategy, and emphasized the need to approach the realization of the relevant action plan.
