We are in the middle of the filing of applications for the Competition for the Best Technological Innovation for 2010 organized by the Ministry for Science and Technological development, Faculty of Technical Sciences from Novi Sad and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia. This public advertisement is intended for all who want to transfer invention into innovation, or idea that can be realized in the market. The goal of the competition is the promotion of innovation culture and enterprising enthusiasm in Serbia and providing assistance to potential and existing entrepreneurs in their innovation efforts.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO SERBIA IN THE FIELD OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Vice-president of the Government, in charge of the European integrations, and Minister for Science and Technological Development, Mr. Bozidar Djelic and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Swiss Confederation, Mr. Michael Ambul, signed a Memorandum on Understanding which will enable Serbia to improve the system of protection of geographical indications for the products on the foreign markets. The memorandum has been concluded with the aim to improve the international economic and commercial system in Serbia through the realization of the Project of Technical Assistance to Serbia in the Field of Intellectual Property.

SEMINAR ON THE IMPLEMENTATION AND ENFORCEMENT OF TRIPS AGREEMENT

In the Intellectual Property Office, on February 17th , a Seminar was held with the topic “Implementation and Enforcement of TRIPS Agreement in Serbia” The Seminar was organized in the framework of the Project for technical assistance in the field of intellectual property rights, which was financed by the Government of Switzerland.

EDUCATION AND INFORMATION CENTRE FESTIVELY OPENED

In the Intellectual Property Office, on Friday, January 29, 2010, the Education and Information Centre (EIC) was festively opened. The Project which created the Centre was initiated and realized with the assistance of the European Union, which donated for this purpose 2 million Euros and the European Patent Office which participated in the financing with 200,000 Euros and manages the project. The Education and Informative Centre shall work on the awareness raising regarding the social importance of the intellectual property and continually develop the professional abilities in the mentioned field, and in such a manner give support to the Republic of Serbia in the development of the competitive and dynamic knowledge based economy.

MEMORANDUM ON UNDERSTANDING SIGNED WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF SERBIA AND THE REGIONAL CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE

February 1, 2010

On the occasion of the celebration of the opening of the Education and Information Centre, the Intellectual Property Office and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia signed a Memorandum on Understanding. The Memorandum was signed by Mrs. Branka Totic, Director of the Office and Mrs. Vidosava Dzagic, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia. Memorandum with the Office was also signed by the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina, Mr. Nikola Stojsic, then presidents and representatives of the chambers of commerce of the towns of Belgrade, Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Nis, Sremska Mitrovica, Uzice, Valjevo and Zrenjanin. The signing of the memorandum makes official the participation of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and the chamber system in the realization of the project “Establishment of the Education and Information Centre in the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia”.

GRAND OPENING OF THE EDUCATION AND INFORMATION CENTRE 

January 29, 2010

The Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia has created an Education and Information Centre on Intellectual Property. This project is an IPA 2007 EU funded project, co-funded and implemented by the European Patent Office. The Centre has the mandate to raise in Serbia the general awareness on IP and to offer IP related education services. The official opening of the Centre takes place in Belgrade on January 29th, 2010.
